Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi

Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) is an autonomous premier engineering and technology university located in Mandi and one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011. IIT Mandi was mentored by IIT Roorkee, which hosted the first batch of students. IIT Mandi's permanent campus is nestled in the Sivalik Range of the Himalayas, away from the bustle of the metropolis, a new abode of learning has germinated. A few hours before the Himalayan resort Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, IIT Mandi has been established with the vision to be a leader in science and technology education, knowledge creation and innovation, in an India marching towards a just, inclusive and sustainable society.

School of Computing and Electrical Engineering

The School offers the following academic programmes:
B.Tech.
The B.Tech. program is a four-year undergraduate program. The course work is spread across eight semesters. The courses include core courses, discipline electives and free electives. Currently, the School offers two B.Tech. programmes:
1. B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
2. B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering (EE)

Master of Science(by Research)
Master of Science (M.S.) by Research program at IIT Mandi is designed to help scholars acquire in-depth knowledge by carrying out advanced research in a chosen area. As compared to an M.Tech. program, the M.S. is research oriented and demands a thesis that is a significant contribution to the area of research. In addition to the thesis, students have to complete five courses related to their area of research.

M.Tech. - EE (VLSI)
The M.Tech. (Electrical Engineering), with specialization in Very Large Scale Integration is being offered in the SCEE since August 2016. View More

M.Tech. - Power Electronics and Drives (PED)
The M.Tech. in Power Electronics and Drives is being offered in the SCEE. This program at IIT Mandi is designed to train students for state-of-the-art practices in area of Power Electronics and Drives and to generate new knowledge by engaging in cutting-edge research to serve as a valuable resource for industry and society. Doctor of Philosophy
The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is the highest academic degree awarded by IIT Mandi. In this research-based program, the student submits a thesis which is a significant contribution to the research area. The student is expected to publish in top-quality journals and conferences. The program also has a course-work requirement followed by a comprehensive exam.

IIT Mandi Admission Process

B.Tech Admissions

Students are admitted to undergraduate courses (four-year Bachelor of Technology) through Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced) conducted by all the IIT's, at various centres across the country. IIT Mandi offers Bachelor of Technology in 4 branches viz. Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering.

M.Tech./M.S./Ph.D. Admissions

M.Tech (Communication and Signal Processing) admission is on the basis if GATE score. Some of the branches which offer MTech courses are:
